allowed a rent allowance as the sole tenant of a
rented tenement.
Only one rent allowance is payable in
respect of any tenement.
An officer who, with the permission of
the Colonial ecretary, does not reside in
Government quarters or in a tenement in respect
of which a rent allowance is payable receives a
lodging allowance as follows:-
(a) If married, 15 per cent. of his salary subject to a maximum of 7100 a month.
(b) If unmarried, 7 per cent of his salary subject to a maximum of 750 a month.

An officer will receive half-pay at
¥10 for the period of the voyage to Hong Kong
and if his service is not continued after the
expiration of his agreement he will receive half-pay
(at current rate) for the period of the voyage home.

An educational officer on a three years'
agreement is not ordinarily eligible for leave
apart from school vacation but after four years
resident service is eligible for 8 months' leave
on full pay and a free return passage.
The present rule as to superannuation is
that, in the case of ill-health, an officer holding
a pensionable appointment may be allowed to retire
on a
